SS-31 (Elamipretide)

SS-31 is a tiny peptide that homes in on mitochondria, the cell's power plants. It binds a fat-like molecule called cardiolipin that keeps mitochondria working.

It's studied in cellular energy and longevity research — how protecting mitochondrial membranes affects energy production and cell survival.

Phase 2/3 trials looked at mitochondrial muscle disease and heart failure. Results are clinical-trial data, not broad approved uses.
