PT-141 (Bremelanotide)

PT-141 is a peptide that switches on melanocortin receptors in the brain. Unlike older local approaches, it works through the central nervous system.

It's studied in sexual-health research — how the brain generates sexual desire and how dopamine signaling in the hypothalamus responds.

Phase 3 trials showed benefit for a specific sexual-desire condition in the approved medicine Vyleesi. Other uses remain unproven.
